We are excited to announce the opening of the nomination period for the IDA Ontario Literacy Leader of the Year Awards! This recognition honours exceptional Ontario educators who are championing structured literacy in their schools and boards.
About the Award:
The Literacy Leader of the Year Award is a prestigious honour that acknowledges the dedication and expertise of Ontario educators. With sweeping changes to Ontario’s Language curriculum, leadership in literacy is needed now more than ever! This award recognizes those educators who have made significant strides in ensuring all students realize their right to learn to read. These individuals serve as beacons of inspiration, guiding the way toward a brighter, more literate future for all.
Each of the 4 winners will receive a complimentary conference ticket and be recognized at the 2025 Literacy & Learning Conference.
Nominee Eligibility:
We invite nominations of educators who meet the following criteria:
1..Work full-time in a publicly funded Ontario school board or First Nation school
2..Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills in their efforts to support structured literacy for all
3..Make a positive impact on their class, school or board and the students it serves
Nomination and Selection Process:
The nomination form is now open, and will close on January 31, 2025. Nominate a deserving candidate today!
The IDA Ontario Board of Directors will carefully review all nominations to select the award recipients. Awardees will be chosen based on their contributions to their community, the depth of their impact, and their commitment to structured literacy for all Ontario students. Winners will be notified by email by February 14, 2025.
